Lena Maria Gårdenäs, the Swedish singer and actress, died on April 21, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born in Brännkyrka, a suburb of Stockholm, in 1947, she moved to Helsingborg at the age of five. She began her career as the lead singer of Rainy Day Women in 1966, later sang with Lena Maria & Sweet Wine in the 1970s, and performed with Rockfolket in a barshow at Bachu Wapen in 1978.

In the early 1980s, she worked with Janne Loffe Carlsson at Berns salonger in Stockholm and toured in Sweden with Eva Rydberg, Janne Lucas and Jerry Williams. She also toured with ABBA in Europe and Australia in 1977 and appeared in Abba – the Movie.
