Mariano Baptista Gumucio, a Bolivian politician and writer, died on April 21, 2026, in La Paz at the age of 92.
Born in Cochabamba on December 11, 1933, he was a member of the Academia Boliviana de la Lengua and served as Bolivia’s minister of education from 1969 to 1970, again in 1979, and from 1989 to 1990.
