
Justin Fairfax, an American politician and former lieutenant governor of Virginia, died on April 16, 2026, in Wakefield, Virginia, at age 47.
A Democrat, he served as Virginia’s 41st lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022 and was the second African-American elected statewide in Virginia, following Douglas Wilder. Born in Pittsburgh in 1979, Fairfax later graduated from Duke University and became a lawyer before entering statewide office.
