Jorie Lueloff Friedman, an American broadcast journalist and the first female reporter and first female news anchor at WMAQ Channel 5 in Chicago, died on March 16, 2026.
Born in Milwaukee on May 31, 1940, she grew up in several Milwaukee suburbs. Friedman earned a bachelor’s degree in 1962 from Mills College in Oakland, California.
In 1972, she testified before Congress about credit discrimination after being prohibited from having credit cards in her own name following her 1970 marriage.
