Yves Chevallard

Yves Chevallard, a French mathematician and academic, died on March 16, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born in Tunis on May 1, 1946, he studied at the Lycée Thiers and the École normale supérieure, where he earned an agrégation de mathématiques. He later became a professor of mathematics at Aix-Marseille University and specialized in the didactic method.

Inspired by sociologist Michel Verret, Chevallard wrote several texts on the didactic method. He died in Marseille.

Yves Chevallard (French: [ˈiv ʃəvalˈaʁ]; 1 May 1946 – 16 March 2026) was a French academic and mathematician.
