Hiroshi Shiono, a Japanese legal scholar and academic, died on April 15, 2026, at the age of 94.
He specialized in administrative law and served as an honorary professor at the University of Tokyo. Shiono was also a member of the Japan Academy, where he served as president from 2016, and received the Order of Culture and the Person of Cultural Merit.
His career included posts at the University of Tokyo, Seikei University, the University of East Asia, and the Japan Broadcasting Culture Foundation.
