
Gerry Ward, an American basketball player who played for the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls, died on April 10, 2026, at age 84.
Born Gerald W. Ward on September 6, 1941, he was a 6-foot-4 guard who starred at Boston College from 1960 to 1963.
He scored 1,112 points and grabbed 947 rebounds in his college career. As a senior, Ward was selected to the All-American third team and named an Academic All-American first team honoree. He was chosen by the St. Louis Hawks with the fifth pick of the 1963 NBA draft and played four NBA seasons, averaging 3.2 points per game.
