Marianne Lederer French translation scholar dead at age 91

Marianne Lederer

Marianne Lederer, a French translation scholar, died on April 10, 2026, at the age of 91.

She further developed the Interpretive Theory of Translation with Danica Seleskovitch, who first proposed the theory, and published several works on translation and interpreting pedagogy. Her work influenced interpreting and translation research and teaching internationally.

Lederer was born in Paris in 1934.
