
Fernand Ouellette, a Canadian writer, died on February 4, 2026.
He was a Quebecois writer who wrote in French and was born in Montreal, Quebec, on September 24, 1930. Ouellette was a three-time winner of the Governor General’s Awards, receiving the French-language non-fiction prize in 1970 for Les actes retrouvés, the French-language fiction prize in 1985 for Lucie ou un midi en novembre, and the French-language poetry prize in 1987 for Les Heures.
