Nariman Hasanzade, the Azerbaijani poet, died on August 1, 2026, aged 95.
Born Nəriman Əliməmməd oğlu Həsənzadə on February 18, 1931, in Poylu in Qazakh district, he was also known as a dramatist and became a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers in 1954. He earned a candidate of philological sciences degree in 1965 and later served in several public and cultural roles, including first deputy minister of press and information from 1991 to 2001 and deputy to the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan from 1990 to 1995.
Over the course of his career, he was recognized as an Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan, named the country’s People’s Poet, and received the Heydar Aliyev Prize, along with state orders including Shohrat, Sharaf, Istiglal and Heydar Aliyev.
