Eddie Joyal, a Canadian ice hockey player who skated for the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers, died on July 20, 2026.

He was 86. Born Edward Abel Joyal in St.

Albert, Alberta, on May 8, 1940, he became a professional centre and spent part of his career in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers from 1963 to 1972. He later played in the World Hockey Association with the Alberta Oilers and Edmonton Oilers from 1972 to 1976. Joyal learned the game on a frozen river near his home in St. Albert and went on to begin his pro career with the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Hockey League in 1960-61.
