Corrado Carnevale, an Italian jurist and judge who served as president of the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, died on February 4, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born in Licata, Sicily, in 1930, he graduated cum laude from the University of Palermo at 21 and first placed in the competitive exam for a post of uditore giudiziario, which he took up in 1953. At 55, he became the youngest president of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
He was known as l’ammazzasentenze for overturning many Mafia convictions on appeal.
