Cooke, a Canadian politician and lawyer, died on July 20, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Oshawa on August 4, 1937, he studied at Queen’s University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a law degree.
Before entering public life, he practised law. Cooke represented the Ontario Liberals in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1990 after an earlier run for the House of Commons in the 1979 federal election, when he was defeated in Kitchener by Progressive Conservative John Reimer.
