David Clayton-Thomas, the British–Canadian singer best known as the lead vocalist of Blood, Sweat & Tears, died on June 24, 2026, at age 84.
Born David Henry Thomsett on September 13, 1941, in Kingston upon Thames, England, he began his career in the early 1960s on Toronto’s Yonge Street, where he sang in clubs and developed his blues style. Before moving to New York City in 1967, he fronted the local bands the Shays and the Bossmen.
Clayton-Thomas went on to earn induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and received a star on Canada‘s Walk of Fame in 2010.
