Born in Rome on October 5, 1937, he was also a teacher and became professor of classical guitar at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He gained recognition for his performances of film scores by Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota, including work associated with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

D’Amario was also a member of the Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza and published a composition inspired by the Tarot cards in 2011.
