Born Christina Henriette Kaagman in The Hague on July 9, 1947, she began her career in 1969 and went on to front the progressive rock group through a run of international hits that lasted into 1990. She also recorded as a solo artist, later serving as president of the Dutch musicians’ union BV Pop and working in public relations for a radio station.

Kaagman was also a television presence, including as a judge on the talent show Idols, and she was appointed a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
