Lloyd Robertson, the Canadian journalist and broadcaster who became one of CTV News’s best-known anchors, died on August 4, 2026, aged 92.
Born Lloyd John Robertson in Stratford, Ontario, he began his career in 1952 and went on to serve as chief anchor and senior editor of CTV’s national evening newscast from 1984 to 2011. He later co-hosted W5 from 2011 to 2016 and had earlier been a special correspondent on the program.
Over a long career in Canadian television news, Robertson covered major national and international events, and he was recognized with appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada and induction into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
