Davey Lopes, an American baseball player and coach, died April 8, 2026, of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
He was 80. Lopes played in Major League Baseball as a second baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros.
He also coached the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies and managed the Milwaukee Brewers. Born and raised in Rhode Island, he played baseball at La Salle Academy in Providence and later at Iowa Wesleyan College and Washburn University in Kansas.
