Dave McGinnis, an American football player and coach, died on April 13, 2026, at the age of 74.
He played as a defensive back at Texas Christian University, where he was a three-year starter and graduated in 1973 with a degree in business management. McGinnis later coached in college football at Texas Christian, Missouri, Indiana State and Kansas State.
He served as linebackers coach for the Chicago Bears from 1986 to 1995, defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals from 1996 to 2000, and head coach of the Cardinals from 2000 to 2003. He was also assistant head coach of the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams from 2012 to 2016 and a color commentator for the Tennessee Titans Radio Network.
