Thomas Lee Jensen, an American politician who served in the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate, died in London, Kentucky, on November 4, 2026, aged 77.
He was born on December 29, 1948. Jensen’s first House election came in 1984, when he defeated incumbent Republican representative Albert Robinson for renomination.
Robinson challenged Jensen in 1986 and defeated him for renomination, ending Jensen’s first period in the chamber. Jensen returned to the House in 1988, after Robinson unsuccessfully ran for the Senate. Jensen served in the House from 1985 to 1987 and again from 1989 to 1997; he did not seek reelection in 1996. His later legislative career brought him back into competition with Robinson: in 2004, Jensen ran for the Senate and defeated Robinson for renomination. Robinson had been elected to the Senate in 1994. Jensen served in the Senate from 2005 through 2012. His public career also included membership in the 27th Kentucky Circuit Court, alongside his service in both chambers of the state legislature. The dates of his House tenure reflect two separate periods of service, followed years later by his Senate term. Across those roles, Jensen served in the Kentucky legislature over several decades and was also associated with the state’s 27th Circuit Court.
