Anita Martinez, the American politician who served as a Dallas city councillor from 1969 to 1973, died on April 13, 2026.
She was 100. Martinez was the first Mexican–American member of the Dallas City Council, winning election in 1969 and serving four years.
Born Anita Nanez on December 8, 1925, in Dallas, she later married Alfred Martinez. She also continued to promote Hispanic pride and knowledge in youth through the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico.
