Darío Lopérfido Argentine politician dead at age 61

Darío Lopérfido, an Argentine politician, journalist and cultural promoter, died on February 27, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1964, he served as Argentina’s Secretary of Culture and Communications from 1999 to 2001, Secretary of Culture of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires from 1997 to 1999, and Subsecretary of Cultural Actions of Buenos Aires in 1996. He also directed the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center, part of the University of Buenos Aires, and led the Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires in several editions.

From February 2015 until his resignation in 2016, he was general and artistic director of Teatro Colón. Lopérfido also worked as a consultant for Grupo PRISA in Madrid from 2002 to 2008.

Darío Lopérfido (5 June 1964 – 27 February 2026) was an Argentine politician, cultural promoter and journalist who served as general and artistic director of Teatro Colón from February 2015 until his resignation in 2016.
