Andrzej Trautman, a Polish mathematical physicist, died on February 27, 2026, at age 93.
Born in Warsaw on January 4, 1933, he contributed to classical gravitation and general relativity. His work included the Robinson–Trautman gravitational waves and the Trautman recovery theorem in Newton–Cartan theory.
The Trautman-Bondi mass was named after him.
