Neil Cossons, died on March 29, 2026, aged 87. Born in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, on January 15, 1939, he studied at the University of Liverpool. He was the first director of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust from 1971, then served at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich from 1983. From 1986 to 2000, he was director of the Science Museum in London.
