Tony Godden English footballer dead at age 70

Tony Godden, the English footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Chelsea, Peterborough United and West Bromwich Albion, died on March 29, 2026.

Born Anthony Leonard Godden on 2 August 1955, he began his career with Ashford Town before joining West Bromwich Albion in 1977. He made 267 league appearances for the club and also had spells with Luton Town, Walsall, Birmingham City and Bury, before later moving to Peterborough United and then into non-league football.

Anthony Leonard Godden (2 August 1955 – 30 March 2026) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for West Bromwich Albion, Luton Town, Walsall, Chelsea, Birmingham City, Bury and Peterborough United.
