
Ádám Nádasdy, a Hungarian linguist, teacher and poet, died on March 29, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born in Budapest on February 15, 1947, he taught linguistics at the Faculty of Humanities of Eötvös Loránd University from 1972 to 2018 and was named professor in 2012. He was also a translator and essayist, and was regarded as one of the most prominent Hungarian translators of Shakespeare.
His translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy also brought him recognition.
