Born in Vámospércs on January 19, 1959, he specialized in the 110 metres hurdles and represented Hungary in a series of major indoor championships during the 1980s. Bodó reached the semifinal stage at the 1983 World Championships, although he did not start in that race, and also competed at the 1979, 1983 and 1985 European Indoor Championships.
He won the Hungarian indoor title in 1979 and set a personal best of 13.68 seconds in Budapest in July 1983.
