Paulette Collet

Paulette Collet, a Belgian essayist and academic, died on February 13, 2026, at the age of 99.

Born in Verviers in 1926, she fled to London at the onset of World War II and earned a bachelor’s degree from King’s College London before completing a master’s degree and doctorate at Université Laval in Quebec City. She taught at the Lycée de Londres from 1950 to 1952 and later held professorships at Kansas State Teachers College, Saint Peter’s College and the University of St.

Michael’s College, where she mainly taught literature and theatre. In 1966, she received the Prix Raymond-Casgrain for her essay L’Hiver dans le roman canadien-français.

Paulette Collet (1926/1927 – 13 February 2026) was a Belgian essayist and academic.
