Manuel Etura, a Spanish footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for Athletic Bilbao, died on March 17, 2026.
Born Manuel González Etura on February 21, 1933, in Sestao, Biscay, he spent 13 seasons in La Liga with Athletic after joining from neighbouring CD Getxo in the summer of 1953. He made his debut on December 12, 1954, in a 3–0 home win against Hércules CF, after appearing only 16 times in his first three years.
During his time at San Mamés Stadium, he played 247 matches in all competitions and scored three goals, including his first league goal in a 3–2 away loss to Granada CF on September 27, 1959.
