Laurie Abrahams, the English footballer and coach at Irvine Valley College, died on April 12, 2026, aged 72.
Born Lawrence Adam Michael Abrahams in Stepney, in the East End of London, he was a professional striker who played in England, the United States and Australia. From 1977 to 1987, he made 283 career league appearances and scored 142 league goals.
He began in the youth team at Alfold F.C., later played for non-league Barking while working in a tailor’s shop, and signed a professional contract with Charlton Athletic in 1977. Abrahams also worked as assistant soccer coach at Irvine Valley College and at Santa Ana College.
