
John Seymour, an American politician who served as a United States senator from California from 1991 to 1992, died on April 18, 2026, at age 88.
Born in Chicago and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, he served in the U.S.
Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959 and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1962. Seymour worked in real estate, served on the Anaheim city council, was mayor of Anaheim from 1978 to 1982, and later served in the California State Senate from 1982 to 1991. Appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill Pete Wilson’s term, he lost the special election to Dianne Feinstein.
