Jim Jabir American women’s basketball coach, pancreatic cancer dead at age 63

Jim Jabir, an American women’s basketball coach who worked at Dayton, Siena and Marquette, died on April 16, 2026, of pancreatic cancer.

He was 63. Jabir, a native of Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Nazareth College in 1984 with a degree in English and began his coaching career there as an assistant in 1984-85.

He later served as head coach at Buffalo State, where he won a SUNYAC championship and reached the NCAA Regionals, before taking head coaching jobs at Siena, Marquette and Providence.
