Gordon Brown (rugby league) English rugby league player dead at age 95

Gordon Brown, the English rugby league player and coach who represented Great Britain and played for Leeds and Keighley, died on February 12, 2026, aged 95.

Born in the Leeds district in 1930, Brown was a World Cup-winning professional rugby league footballer who played as a stand-off in the 1950s and 1960s. He won Great Britain caps while at Leeds in the 1954 Rugby League World Cup against Australia, France and New Zealand, and again in 1955 against New Zealand.

He also coached Keighley in the 1960s.

Gordon F. Brown (1930 – 12 February 2026) was an English World Cup-winning professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1960s. He played at representative level for Great Britain, and at club level for Leeds and Keighley, as a stand-off, and coached at club level for Keighley.
