Born in Sydney on March 4, 1954, he played in the 1970s and 1980s and made his first-grade debut for Cronulla-Sutherland in 1972. Edmonds featured in three of Cronulla’s finals matches during the club’s 1973 run to its first grand final, although injury ruled him out of the decider, which Cronulla lost 10–7.
He later continued his career in England with Halifax during the 1974–75 season.
