Pat Collins, an American football coach and the seventh head football coach for Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana, died on February 12, 2026.
He was 84. Born on August 20, 1941, Collins graduated from Louisiana Tech before becoming a graduate assistant and later a full-time assistant coach at the school.
He was part of Louisiana Tech’s defensive coaching staff during three consecutive NCAA College Division and Division II championships from 1971 to 1973. After being hired at Northeast Louisiana, he became head coach in 1981 and coached players including quarterbacks Bubby Brister and Stan Humphries.
