Born in Oslo on June 19, 1941, he was a theologian and served as Preses of the Church of Norway’s Bishop’s Conference from 2002 to 2006. Wagle studied at MF Norwegian School of Theology, earning a cand.theol.
degree in 1968, and later completed practical theological training there. He was ordained after work as an army chaplain and vicar in Sørreisa, and also served as an assistant professor at MF and in church administration.
