Antonis Manitakis Greek politician dead at age 81

Antonis Manitakis, a Greek university professor and politician, died on February 18, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born in Thessaloniki on May 23, 1944, he studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received a doctorate in law from the University of Brussels. He later became a professor at the Aristotle University’s Law School, where he succeeded Aristovoulos Manesis in the constitutional law chair.

Manitakis also served as dean of the School of Law and Political Sciences and held visiting posts at the University of Montpellier, the University of Paris X, the University of Rome La Sapienza and the University of Nantes. In government, he was Minister of Administrative Reform and E-Governance from 2012 to 2013 and served as interim Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reconstruction in 2012 and 2015.

Antonis Manitakis (Greek: Αντώνης Μανιτάκης; 23 May 1944 – 18 February 2026) was a Greek university professor and politician. He was a Minister of administrative reform and e-governance (2012–2013) and a onetime interim Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reconstruction, having served in 2012 and 2015.
