
Allan Hosie, the Scottish rugby referee and former Scottish Rugby Union president, died on April 22, 2026, aged 80.
He was the 116th president of the Scottish Rugby Union and received a Scotland referee cap in January 2025. Hosie refereed 22 international matches before becoming Five Nations chairman in 1997.
He was also known for his view that the introduction of the yellow card to rugby union could be misused by referees as a substitute for a red card.
