Vlado Janevski, the Macedonian singer who represented North Macedonia in its first Eurovision appearance, died on June 28, 2026, at the age of 65.

Born Vladimir Janevski on November 27, 1960, in Skopje, then in FPR Yugoslavia, he built a career as a singer, lyricist and songwriter, working in pop music and performing in a baritone range. He began his professional career in 1991 and studied English language and literature at Ss.

Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. Janevski was best known for taking North Macedonia to the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 with “Ne Zori, Zoro,” which finished 19th in Birmingham. He died in Skopje after a short illness.
