Tony Pigott, the English cricketer who played for Sussex and Surrey and appeared in one Test for England in 1984, died on February 1, 2026, aged 67.
Born in Fulham, London, on 4 June 1958, he was called up as an emergency replacement during an injury crisis in New Zealand while playing provincial cricket there. A fast bowler, Pigott took a wicket with his seventh delivery on Test debut.
He also made an early mark in first-class cricket with a hat-trick for Sussex against Surrey. His career was later affected by back injuries and tailed off after his move to Surrey.
Anthony Charles Shackleton Pigott (4 June 1958 – 1 February 2026) was an English cricketer, who played in one Test for England in 1984, when he was called up as an emergency replacement in New Zealand.
