Sophie Flamand, a Belgian writer and journalist, died on April 14, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born in Liège on November 6, 1964, she studied at the Université libre de Bruxelles and later became deputy director of the cultural center in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert at the request of mayor Georges Désir. She also led the nonprofit organization Le pied de la Lettre until 2009 and wrote for magazines including BoDoï, Casemate and ActuaBD.

In 2022 and 2023, she published the two-part series Les Mantes religieuses with Bernard Swynsen and illustrator Christian Paty.
