Bernard Boileau, the Belgian former professional tennis player, died October 7, 2026, aged 67.
Born in Liège on May 25, 1959, he won Belgium’s national championship every year from 1978 through 1983, a six-title run that began as he started touring. He remained a regular member of Belgium’s Davis Cup team during this period, having made his first appearance for the country in 1977.
Boileau played in 14 Davis Cup ties, with his final appearance coming in 1985, and contested 38 rubbers. He won 22 of those matches: 16 in singles and six in doubles. In 1979, the year after beginning his tour career, he reached the semifinals of the Brussels Outdoor tournament. His national titles and international team appearances thus spanned the opening years of his professional career, from his start on tour through the end of his Davis Cup service. His record included success in both singles and doubles for Belgium, alongside his sustained run as the country’s national champion.
