Born in Nara Prefecture on May 28, 1911, she graduated from Kansai Medical University and worked as a physician. During World War II, Kagawa worked at the Osaka Hospital, and after the war she later took over the family clinic, serving as an obstetrician and gynecologist and remaining a familiar presence for patients in her community.
She had held the title of Japan’s oldest living person since the death of Miyoko Hiroyasu on July 29, 2025.
