District Court for the District of North Dakota, died October 7, 2026, aged 92. Born in Fargo, North Dakota, he graduated from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955 and received a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1959.
From 1955 to 1959, he worked in Washington, D.C., as a junior management assistant for the U.S. Department of Labor, alongside his legal studies. After earning his law degree, Conmy entered private practice in Bismarck, where he worked from 1959 to 1985. His public service in the city also included service as a city commissioner beginning in 1968. In 1985, he became a judge of the federal district court for North Dakota.
