Hiroshi Tsuchida, a Japanese actor and voice actor known for Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and Attack on Titan, died of heart failure on October 11, 2026, aged 54.

Born in Tokyo on February 8, 1972, he began his career in 1994 and was affiliated with the agency 81 Produce. Tsuchida played Saizo, also known as Ninja Blue, in the television series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger from 1994 to 1995.

He later voiced Grisha Jaeger in Attack on Titan, appearing in the series from 2013 to 2023. His work also included dubbing characters from English-language films into Japanese for audiences in Japan. In the early 2020s, a scene from a 1995 episode of Kakuranger became an internet meme: Saizo is startled by an assassin who announces, “Today is Friday in California!” before trying to shoot him. The moment drew renewed attention to Tsuchida’s role in the series decades after its original broadcast. Known in Japanese as 土田大, he worked across acting and voice acting during a career that spanned more than three decades. His agency announced his death on October 20, nine days after he died.
