Michael Dysart dead at age 92, Australian architect

Michael Dysart, an Australian architect, died on June 4, 2026, at the age of 92.

Over a career spanning more than 60 years, he became known for work on landmarks, schools and colleges, churches, project housing and co-operative housing developments, and was regarded as a prominent figure in the Sydney School movement and Australian vernacular building. His projects included Taree Technical College, which earned the RAIA NSW Blacket Award in 1965, and Ryde High School, which received a highly commended mention in the 1967 Sulman Awards.

In 1968, he won the RAIA Project House Design Award for a modestly priced house design for Habitat project builders, and in 1977 he received the CS Daley Medal for Urambi Village.
