Mark Mobius, the American-born German businessman and emerging markets fund manager, died on April 15, 2026, at age 89.
Born Joseph Bernhard Mark Mobius in Hempstead, New York, he founded Mobius Capital Partners LLP and spent more than three decades at Franklin Templeton, where he ran the Templeton Emerging Markets Group. He previously worked at Vickers-da-Costa and served as president of International Investment Trust Company in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mobius earned degrees from Boston University and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1964.
