Marilyn Trenholme Counsell, a Canadian politician, physician and nutritionist, died on June 18, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born Marilyn Trenholme in Baie Verte, New Brunswick, on October 22, 1933, she went on to study at Mount Allison University and the University of Toronto, earning a BSc, an MA in nutrition and an MD. She worked as a nutritionist for the governments of New Brunswick and Ontario, later practiced as a family physician in Toronto, Sackville and Port Elgin, and served in the Senate of Canada before becoming lieutenant governor of New Brunswick from 1997 to 2003.
Trenholme Counsell was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
