Jon Kudelka, an Australian cartoonist, died on February 8, 2026, in Hobart, Tasmania, at the age of 53.
Born in Burnie, Tasmania, on February 22, 1972, he was an editorial cartoonist whose work regularly appeared in The Australian, The Mercury and The Saturday Paper. He studied at the University of Tasmania and earned a Bachelor of Science.
Over his career, which began in 1993, Kudelka won the Stanley Award for best editorial/political cartoonist and the Walkley Award for best cartoon in 2008, a second Walkley Award in 2018, and the Vince O’Farrell Award for Outstanding Cartoon at the Kennedy Awards in 2019.
