Henry Newton, the English football midfielder who played for Nottingham Forest, Everton and Derby County, died on April 14, 2026, aged 82.

Newton made almost 500 league appearances for Football League clubs during the 1960s and 1970s. He began his career with his hometown club Nottingham Forest, where he made 282 League appearances and 315 senior appearances in all, scoring 15 goals.

He was with Forest when they finished runners-up in the Football League First Division in 1966-67. He joined Everton in 1970, making his first appearance for the club on October 17, 1970, and went on to make 85 senior appearances and score six goals before moving to Derby County, for whom his last game came in September 1973.
